100 Bloggers Only – Promote Your Best Posts Here

By Brandon Cox, January 15, 2010 | 47 Comments

I’ll be brief. I’ve created a Google group. The purpose is simple – ask other bloggers to promote your posts that you feel are worthy of the world’s attention. There are several important catches though that will hopefully make it worth while…

  • I’m going to close new memberships after 100 bloggers have joined so it never becomes overwhelming.
  • I’m allowing anyone to apply since I want participation to be voluntary, but I’m only going to approve people who are unselfish, will give a moment now and then to promote another blogger, and who produce useful and valuable content.
  • Members can invite other members, but it still stops at 100.

Participating is as simple as sending a single email and reading one email per day.

If you don’t get in, I’d recommend you start your own group and limit it to 100 also, for all the same reasons.

Ready? Here’s the link: Worthy of Attention Google group.

After the group fills up, this message will self-destruct.

You Don’t Just Want Traffic, You Want Collisions

By Brandon Cox, November 18, 2009 | 20 Comments

Car Meets House (aka South Austin Parking Spot)Bloggers have a tendency to scramble for traffic. We want eyes, readers, clicks, etc. Or do we? Not far from my office is a group of nice new billboards ready for ads. I called about the prices and found they were $1,400 per month. I could advertise my blog’s url there. I’d get a lot of eyes and a lot of traffic. But is that really what I want?

5 Things Bloggers Should Do On the Weekend

By Brandon Cox, October 24, 2009 | 21 Comments

my cool weekendTraffic across the web spikes on Monday, stays heavier through the week, then goes down over the weekend. Though I won’t back this up with science, it seems that my most successful days of drawing attention to what I’ve written seem to be Monday and Thursday. The worst times? Friday night, pretty much through Sunday.

I’ve come to think of this as a good thing. It requires us to develop kind of a rhythm – working hard part of the week and resting at least a day. (Seems like the Creator even wanted things this way.) So what should you do on the “off” days – Saturday in particular? Here are five little suggestions…
