I’ve now had two different experiences with guest post pitches – ones that are from regular bloggers hoping to get natural links and exposure for themselves, and ones that are from SEO consultants looking to get natural links for their clients.
Why is it that the second one doesn’t sit so well with me? Read more »

Editor’s Note: According to SEObook.com,
The canonical version of any URL is the single most authoritative version indexed by major search engines. Search engines typically use PageRank or a similar measure to determine which version of a URL is the canonical URL. Webmasters should use consistent linking structures throughout their sites to ensure that they funnel the maximum amount of PageRank at the URLs they want indexed.
The following plugins, addons and extensions are absolutely free and have worked greatly for many users. However, if you are not 100% confident about canonical URLs you shouldn’t use them as if done incorrectly they can create many problems, loose rankings etc. Read more »
Who doesn’t want to have a million inbound links to their blog? After all, you’ve put hard work into your content! You’re ready to see some action now. We know that the more high-quality links we get, the better our blogs get ranked in search engine results. And we also know that this leads to an increase in Google page ranking – eventually.
Upon hearing this, so many new bloggers and new Internet marketers run out and try to rack up as many links as possible (I did, too). But this is a lesson often hard learned: there is no substitute for natural link building. Read more »
Where do you find great one-way dofollow links?
I’ve created a list below of 10 great dofollow resources that are suitable for bloggers. All carry high page rank and get a lot of traffic, so not only will your links get counted and credited quickly, but you are likely to get some new visitors from them as well.
As with all link building strategies and efforts, there’s no way to sugar coat it so I’ll just suggest it plainly: do not litter. :) The sites don’t exist for you to walk by and drop your link just to take up space. Remember that blogging karma is real so you will get what you give. Choose the resources you like, so you can be a giver and not just a taker. Read more »
A few months ago, I wrote, I Threw SEO to the Wind, on FuelYourBlogging.com. Upon your initial glance at the title you might guess that the article was about totally ignoring SEO and writing the type of content you want to write. You’d be right, in part.
However, towards the end of the post, I revealed that I do in fact optimize my posts, I just do it a little differently from what an SEO expert might suggest.
Here’s a glance at how I optimize my posts: Read more »

There’s nothing like the warm, comfortable feeling of knowing that you’ve mastered your subject matter. Whether you’re blogging about it or presenting to a room full of people, it sure feels great to have all the answers. But after a time, doesn’t it seem like you’re starting to cover some of the same material over and over again? I know it does to me. Here’s my idea for fixing that: Every now and again I’m going to blog about stuff I know almost nothing about. Read more »
I’ve been doing a series of videos about how to get your content into the cloud, meaning, how to take what you’re publishing on your blog and get it into the cloud of content consumption in which web users live and breathe each day
Rather than trying to create a video for each method, or even a single blog post, I thought I’d put together a lengthy list of a variety of ways. I wanted to do this partly to demonstrate the sheer magnitude of options, but also to give you a list from which you could select one, two, or even ten “doable” tasks to apply today.
- Write great content. (It all starts here.)
- Tell your friends and family… face-to-face.
- Email your friends and family to introduce your blog (but don’t spam strangers).
- Include a link to your blog in your email signature.

Real time web startups are all the rage as internet users are becoming aware of the fact that news can travel almost instantly across the web. We used to search based on relevancy alone, now we search for relevancy that is trending. Real-time web apps and services are aimed at meeting the demand for finding out what’s happening now.

I just read an article at Mashable about how a guy with a cell phone broke the news of the San Francisco Bridge being shut down after pieces of the bridge fell, using Twitter and Twitpic. It’s a different world! The same happened when the plane landed in the Hudson River in New York – Twitter, on the scene!
Why are Mashable, ReadWriteWeb, and TechCrunch such popular sites for social medialites and tech junkies? Because they all have an uncanny knack for capturing the news which is truly breaking. Then the rest of us sponge off of them for our second minute content.
