How often do you watch online streaming videos? Most people watch them almost daily, between the reams of content on YouTube and Facebook, as well as livestreams, website videos, or video-on-demand platforms such as Netflix.
The only problem is that if you have certain online streaming videos that you watch frequently, every time that you do you’re effectively downloading the video again. That can quickly start to eat into your bandwidth, which is why you may want to find ways that you could record and save streaming videos instead.
Not only will recording streaming videos let you save them to conserve bandwidth, but it can also help you to watch them on other devices or avoid missing livestreams. The best part is that it is actually a lot easier than it sounds – if you use Movavi Screen Recorder anyway.
If you’d like to learn how to record streaming video using Movavi Screen Recorder, the first thing you should do is open up the streaming video but don’t play it just yet. Instead, launch the screen recorder and use your mouse cursor to trace a frame over the area where the video is located – to define it as the capture area.
Once the capture area is defined in that way, Movavi Screen Recorder’s interface will appear. If you want you can adjust the capture frame manually, or use the presets in the list on the interface. Additionally you could check that the ‘System Audio’ icon is highlighted, or click on it once if it isn’t.
Technically that is all that you need to set up, but if you want to automate the recording you should click on the ‘alarm clock’ icon. In the window that appears you can opt to either set a timer or schedule the recording. If you set a timer you will have to manually start recording and Movavi Screen Recorder will automatically stop it after the duration has elapsed, whereas if you schedule the recording you can set the start time and duration – thus fully automating it.
Assuming you’re manually initiating the recording, you should press ‘REC’ to get started, and play the online streaming video once you do. After it is done you can press ‘Stop’, or if you automated it then Movavi Screen Recorder will take care of that on its own.
At this point you should have successfully recorded the online streaming video, and you can go over it in the ‘Preview’ window. Although Movavi Screen Recorder will have automatically saved the video as an MKV file, you can opt to save it in any other format if you prefer. In fact you could even trim out any unwanted parts in the ‘Preview’ window, prior to saving it.
Because of how easy it is to set up Movavi Screen Recorder to record streaming video, you shouldn’t take very long to do so. In fact now that you know what to do, you can probably set it up and start recording within a minute – at most.
