Jimdo Releases an iOS App
This is probably the greatest piece of news. Jimdo, a Hamburg-based site maker has taken website building to the new level. They made it possible to create websites free of cost on the go, directly form the iOS-powered devices. Surely, the mobile app doesn’t offer the full functionality of the Jimdo platform. Yet it can be effectively used for making basic edits (uploading and editing images, adding texts, managing website pages, etc.). The app is free.
uCoz Releases a New Social Media Publisher
As of August, uCoz users can take advantage of the new Social Media Publisher to share their website entries automatically. The Publisher can be enabled with just a few clicks. Once it’s active, your posts will be shared automatically through the specified social networks once per 20 minutes. The entries can be still shared manually, if needed. This module will come in handy to those who publish tons of content on a daily basis.
Webydo Customers Get Ecwid E-store Capabilities
Webydo website maker is now partnering with Ecwid platform. Webydo users can now easily integrate an Ecwid widget to add eCommerce functionality to their website without much hassle. This widget is mobile-friendly and offers a plethora of eCommerce options: advanced product description, multiple payment options and stock control, just to name a few.
Squarespace Improves Its Ecommerce Platform
Squarespace has also improved its eCommerce platform: they’ve added a separate block for Donations and updated their Product Description forms. Now Squarespace users can create complex forms in case they need to gather detailed information from the buyers’ side. They’ve also added a new product type – ‘Services’ (in addition to physical and digital goods) and made the ‘Add to cart’ button customizable.
Moonfruit Updates Its Footer and SEO Block
Moonfruit, a UK-based site creator has updated its footer settings. Now, current and future Moonfruit users can add a variety of objects and widgets into their website footer: snippets, buttons, links, shapes and alike. If needed, the footer can be resized and hidden from certain pages.
They’ve also made a few changes in their SEO block. Firstly, a character counter was added – it allows you to see how long is your Title or Meta Description. Secondly, to the right of the counter you will find an Information button explaining the basics of search engine optimization and giving practical advice on how to make your website meta tags work for you. Thirdly, the order in which the SEO tags appear in the block was also changed. Now they’re displayed in accordance to their role in website optimization: Title, Description, Keywords.
