It’s true, you probably won’t make a huge amount of money from a niche specific blog from Google Adsense methods of monetization. To make the most of traffic on your blog, you need to sell targeted products on your blog.
It will be great if you could create few products of your own and sell them to targeted customers through your blog. But if you don’t have the time or resources to build a fully function products of your own, the world is not over for you.
Why don’t you try your hands at selling affiliate products on your blog?
Promoting affiliate products is less of a headache and all you have to do is just collect cash by referring customers to the websites you are affiliated with through your affiliate links. If you want to make more money through affiliate marketing or want to improve your earnings through affiliate channels further, check out the points that are shared below:
1. Write Product Reviews
First of all, you should think of writing reviews about those products only that are relevant to your blog niche and you are using in person. You cannot convince your readers to buy a particular product if you don’t have in-depth knowledge about that product. So you need to make sure you are writing reviews around the right kind of products on your blog.
Your review should be detailed, well researched and should attach different screenshots to help your readers understand the product you are reviewing. You should do bit of keyword research around the product before you start writing your review post around it. By doing proper keyword research and by targeting long tail keywords, you can drive targeted traffic from search engines on your review posts which will result in more sales in your affiliate account.
2. Do Guest Blogging
Its time to find some relevant blogs in your niche that accept guest posts. If you want to promote web hosting related products, you need to find blogs that covers web hosting, domain name, how to start a blog or blogging related topics. If you spend some time on Google to find relevant blogs, you will end up with lots of blogs and huge list of 100’s of blogs that accept guest posts.
You should write guest post around the products you want to sell or should mention it as one of point in your guest post. If I write a guest post around how to start a blog from scratch, I cannot complete it without mentioning a web host.
You should link to your review posts from your guest blogging contributions. This way you will be able to send lots of targeted traffic and much needed backlinks to help you rank higher for the targeted keywords related to the product you are affiliated with. And we know more targeted traffic coming from referral websites and search engines, means for sale waiting for us.
3. Run Banners and Links on Your Blog
I think most bloggers are aware about this method. To make more money through affiliate marketing, you should place interesting and value adding banners and text ads on your blog. You should place your banner ads at prominent positions on your blog and while adding them, make sure you don’t end up adding too many banners above the fold as in that case you may become victim of Google page layout algorithm.
Apart from this, it’s a good idea to create a resources section on your blog explaining all affiliate products and in which case your blog readers should use them. You should add a link for it in your blog top navigation bar.
4. Make Affiliate Links “Nofollow”
This is very important point. You should add nofollow tag against all image and text links that are pointing to your affiliated website. If you are using affiliate links very rarely on your blog, you may be fine if you don’t add a nofollow attribute to it. But if you use to add too many affiliate banners and links on your blog, it’s a must for you to add nofollow tag against all affiliate links. Adding nofollow links against such links will keep your blog safe from any kind of penalty from Google and other search engines.
If you are depending heavily on affiliate products sale, it’s will be your content quality which will matter a lot. And if you are just copying and pasting content from other websites, no one is going to love your blog including Google bots.
5. Offer Special Discounts and Services for Sales
You can increase your affiliate sale to great extent if you can grab some exclusive discount offer from your affiliated website for your blog readers. I myself use to search on Google for different discounts and coupons sites before buying a product. Suppose I’m interested in buying hosting from a well known host in the industry, I will love to check those search engine results that are offering me some special discount or offer against my product related queries.
Apart from discounts, you can make more money through affiliate product selling if you happen to offer some free or cheap services in exchange for buying products through your affiliate link.

Great tip on using the no follow attrivute for Affiliate links! I run a niche blog and use any banner advertisements or any of that stuff. I believe that readers are sick or advertisements and will be less likely to follow a blog if they are being slammed with advertisements. However, if your sole purpose of blogging is to make money off of advertisements, then by all means advertise away. I am just a little sick of Social media ads, blog ads, spam. Since when did those means of advertising become acceptable?
