Since it began, the practice of blogging has evolved from a mere way of expressing one’s thoughts to the world through cyberspace into a money-making strategy that could propel a business to its limits.
So, how did it happen over a relatively short period of time?
A large factor that contributed to this evolution is cloud computing.
Look at it this way – when you combine the most popular means of opinion distribution with the newest information technology, a powerful junction is bound to occur. A strategy that eliminates the reliance of computing from a physical source and redirect it towards independent servers is what best describes the relationship of blogging with cloud computing. This relationship yields improved computer performance and reduced operational costs. Here are the many ways that cloud computing has changed the way people blog.
Remote Computer Access
For majority of bloggers, this is the best way cloud computing has changed the game. This enables bloggers to reach the saved data from their home PC using a portable tablet computer. This means they can blog anything and everything in real time as they travel abroad or sip a cup of coffee at Starbucks. If the need to transfer large files emerge, bloggers can upload them to their cloud account, access and change them from their portable device.
Hardware Costs
Cloud computing significantly lowers hardware expenses. Upgrading one’s PC storage capacity or purchasing backup drives is a significant coat. Since professional blogging is a slow and steady business, every extra cent squeezed helps.
Improved Security
Security helps, particularly when dealing with a public blog that thousands – if not millions – view. Confidential documents and media saved onto one’s computer are accessed by anyone and everyone with even infinitesimal know-how. Cloud storage is securer. Even if you lose your hardware along with the saved information on it, all your most important information are secured on a remote database.
Easily Maintainable Servers
For large-scale blog sites, storage typically necessitates personal servers and maintenance. With modern cloud computing systems, one no longer requires that type of hardware. This also depicts no need to rebuild server foundation or wasting hours with new programs.
Fewer Glitch Occurrences
Your computer and its corresponding hardware expires or malfunctions more often than any virtual servers. By operating your blog from a cloud system, one does not need to worry about that hardware unexpectedly crashing. Though it still needs some processing, the load carried by your PC is significantly less than some of the large media software when you rely on cloud computing.
Access for Multiple Bloggers
In case there is a group of bloggers who use the same data or platform, cloud gives far more choices and options for organizing work in a way that enables file transfer, saving data in a much quicker and more simple way. Also it enables control of content accessibility, which can be restricted very easily if there is a need for that.
Fully Automated and Organized
Bloggers work with huge chunks of files and data that are simply impossible to remember one by one. From audio files, images, videos, documents, and programs, the variety of information may be lost without someone organizing it. Saving data into a cloud system makes it effortless to electronically manage and save documents through dates of uploading or modifications.
Portability
Working as a blogger involves countless hours in front of a computer. This practice can prohibit mobility and can cause real body pain from your muscles and joints getting stiffed. Through a cloud system, you can blog from anywhere you are and at anytime you want to.

Cloud has its advantages but it also has its costs. Some cloud services charge for upload, download, processing and data storage. Make sure to take all of these factors into account before making the switch.

If you have not tried cloud, I would recommend you start using amazon aws first, hosting images, and website has never been so cheap and affordable. I am also thinking of trying cloud hosting for my website. It helps in improving robustness and uptime as well.

Cloud computing is pretty old, but many bussineses are dependent of internet and data to work, but very few put their data protection problem. Companies must understand that unlike physical properties such as buildings and equipment that can be easily recovered through insurance, loss of data is irrecoverable.

It’s amazing to be part of these changes and also to take advantage of it. If now these things are amazing to us, I wonder how will our kids will see these changes when they grow up. Maybe in 50 – 60 years from now we will blog with the power of our minds :). The advantage of cloud computing is mobility and the power to post after a minute you took a picture, saw or heard something.

Before cloud computing, blogging was a job we had to sit down and dedicate a certain time period too. Thanks to cloud computing, bloggers have the oppurtunity to blog about whatever, whenever, WHEREever. Not only is this a good way to avoid leaving a big dent in your chair from sitting all day, it also gives us the chance to blog our experiences and feelings very shortly after the event we are blogging about occurred.
