Now coming to the hard part and which is the topic for the day. How you will go about making sure your guest post gets published on top blogs in your niche? I have been blogging in blogging and SEO industry for some time now. I have so far been able to publish more than 100 guest posts on best blogs in these niches.
Over the period of time and from my personal experience, I came to know the tips and tricks one should be following to increase chances of their guest post approval. In today’s guest post I’m going to share some working tips that should help in improving you as a guest blogger and should also work towards getting your guest post published on big blogs in your niche.
Spend Some Time on a Targeted Blog
Before sending a guest blogging request to a blog owner, you should spend some time in analysing its content like the kind of topics are being published on that blog, their word length, blog post style and how you should be drafting your guest post. Most of blog owners have guest blogging guidelines page that you should check. You should make sure you are meeting all of their expectations during the whole guest blogging process.
Contact the Blog Owner with a Polite Email
Once you have clear cut idea about all the restrictions, benefits and how you should be writing your guest post for that blog, it’s time to contact its blog owner with a polite email. Through this Email, you are taking permission of its blog owner about your wish of writing some guest posts for that blog. First of all you should introduce yourself and then few lines about the target blog where you want to guest blog. If you are contacting a blog owner for the first time, you can share few of your past writing experiences in the form of guest posts or contents on your own blog to give an idea about your blogging skills.
You can even share some blog post ideas you want to work on exclusively for that blog. Language of your Email should be very polite. In your Email, you can offer special promotion you will be carrying for your published guest post to thousands of subscribers you have on different social media websites and may add a link for published guest post on your website even. Don’t show greediness for backlinks in your Email as you will surely get backlinks to your website as per their linking policy.
You should have your custom email signature in place to improve your guest post approval rate and with the intension to share more information about you and your online presence to blog owner. I have created a good looking custom signature for me using Wise Stamp Email Signature facility.
Start Working on Your Guest Post
After receiving a positive response from blog owner about the topic selection or any other topic of his/her interest, it’s time to start working on your first guest post for that blog. You should keep all of guest blogging guidelines in mind while working on your content. You are supposed to write a fresh, unique, high quality and well researched guest post around a topic of blog owner’s interest. Once you are finished with writing the guest post, it’s time to proof-read it several time. Your guest post should be free from grammatical, spelling and broken sentences type errors. You should be writing your guest post in a way as if you are writing it for your own blog. You should use your best content as guest post to increase chances of your guest post approval.
If you ask me why I’m putting too much stress on proof reading the guest post several times, there are lots of reasons for that. First of all, guest post with too many errors will leave a bad impression on blog owner and if somehow you are able to publish your guest post due to busy schedule of its blog owner, you will find it hard in getting those errors fixed later by its blog owner as you don’t have the right to edit your guest post after approval. You have to Email its blog owner for changes. If you are asking about fixing the problems later, that will also leave a bad impression on blog owner about your writing skills. And if you are going ahead with the badly written guest post, that will leave a really bad impression on its blog readers.
You should add links to other authority website and for some of published blog posts from blog owner’s blog in your guest post to add more value to it. If you could find or create few images matching your guest post, that will make difficult for blog owner to say no to your guest post. You should add self-serving links in your guest post as per blog owner linking policy and make sure you have an account on Gravatar.com.
Guest Post Sending and Approval
It’s time to send your guest post with related images attached to the blog owner. You should send your guest post in the format blog owner is accepting. If he/she is interested in HTML version, send that and if in Word Document file, send that version. You should ask for blog owner’s views about the submitted guest post.
You will receive a positive reply from blog owner most of time about the submitted guest post and confirming you about the date of its publishing and scheduling. If you are asked to make further changes or additional information in to the submitted guest post, do it with happiness.
Once your guest post gets approved, you should share it on Social Media websites of your interest and should keep an eye on all incoming comments with the intension to send your reply against each. True, guest posting does have it’s perks. Still, we bloggers should not forget one crucial fact or importance as to why we do blogpost. The most important thing in guest posting is to provide not just good but great quality content to the blog we are guesting. That way, people who subscribed to those blogs would recognize us and at the same time instill some value or information that would help the readers. One question though, how do you find the email of a blog owner who didn’t publish it in his/her ‘contact us’ page? :)

I recently started accepting guest posts for one of my blogs…but haven’t actually published any yet, despite having received several emails with proposed articles, all of which were of horrible quality. So in theory, I am sold on the idea that publishing guests posts on my blog will be great for both exposure and traffic…but in practice, I am reading through low-quality stuff and writing rejection emails while waiting for at a good post to come through and getting ready to get active to go looking for guest posters. I think contacting the right people in you niche and asking them whether they’d like to contribute is much more effective than passively waiting for a gem of an article to get emailed to you :)

Before going forward with any major task, we do a lot of reserach about that particular thing. It is true that when we know a many things about something, we tend to work in that field better. Therefore knowing the targeted blog better is going to help us easily convince that blogger to accept our post for his blog.
Great article on guest posting. Love it. To be honest, I have set some very strict guidelines for guest posting on my blog. And I think it is important to have a discussion before sending in a guest post.
But I can see that there would be great benefit to just writing it and sending it to the blog author to see if he wants it or not.
You can always use it yourself, as you mentioned, if the blog owner does not. So you cannot lose by taking the time to submit guest posts.

I definitely would consider sending a polite e-mail to the blog owner asking if you can guest blog. Another idea would be to work on your post and make sure it stands out from the crowd.
