Commentluv is awesome – I couldn’t see how it could better. But it has.
Andy Bailey is always up to something. He’s always looking to improve his plugin. I’ve never seen someone work so diligently.
The free version is getting an update that in addition to all the techy stuff that keeps it running smoothly, he’s adding some other cool features.
Here are my favorite new CommentLuv v2.91 features:
Author and Category URLs
Now, you can use category URLs and author specific URL instead of just the normal domain name.
Why is this special?
It allows bloggers who have multi-author blogs to use their author or their category URLs to bring up posts they’ve written instead of just the “latest blog post”. How cool is that?
Clever Spammers Beware!
I’ll admit, spammers are some of the cleverest people in the world. If only they used their powers for good and not evil – the world would be a better place! Thankfully, Andy’s a smart guy and has figured out how to block another one of their clever schemes.
According to the update information page,
“There was already an option to hide or discard a comment that had a last blog post link but no author URL in the last version.
That was there to scupper the efforts of clever spammers who would put a dodgy URL in the comment form, get the last blog post link and then delete the URL so they could get around Akismet who would instantly recognize the dodgy URL.
Now, spammers have realized this and have started getting the link from their dodgy site and then putting in a fake or innocent URL like google.com or yahoo.com in the form and clicking submit. The get a deep direct link to their crappy site and you might not notice because the URL looks innocent.
No more!
You can now set CommentLuv to only accept comments that have a last blog post link that matches the URL of the site. (only for comments that have a last blog post link)”

Get Listed in the CommentLuv Search Engine
If your blog gets a lot of comments, you could possibly find it listed among 1 of the 5000 spots in the CommentLuv Search Engine. This is a great opportunity to get more exposure to your blog.

Akismet + CommentLuv = Spammers Nightmare
Though some may slip through for the most part it works really well. I do like the look and feel of CommentLuv and its ability to increase visitor interaction on your blog, which is why I use it. Mostly for how it looks :)

I really love commentluv. One of the biggest benefits to this new plugin is that it has the allowance for social marketing of comments. Along with the other features plugin, a user is able to share comments made via Google +, Facebook or Twitter.

Comment Luv is really awesome and I’m using it all my 4 blogs. Readers are very much interested to comment on comment luv enabled blogs
This is in response to Dave Lucus on an earlier post. You can add Commentluv to a blogspot blog. Take a look at intense debate. There are a few people who show how online but going directly to the website should work just as well. I’ve put it on two blogspot blogs already.
I have a new website and have setup a blog on it, is it worth installing commentluv to encourage others to comment, i’ve noticed there is a premium version what is the difference?

Yes, you are right, CommentLuve is getting better all the time. I have been using it for only about a six weeks, dived straight in and signed up for the Premium version, and to be honest I have been delighted with it.
It has increased social interaction and engagement on my blog, and the network of CommentLuv users looks to be increasing daily. Andy has done a great job with this plugin.
An added benefit of using the Premium plugin is the built in GASP anti-spam feature, I now use this exclusively and no longer rely on Akismet to protect my site from spam comments.

Well yes Comment Luv simply attracts your visitors for commenting on your blog, that like to display their last posted article on their site and get a free traffic exposure.

Really I do agree that commentluv is one great plugin to have and since it gets reputation based on its developments there are more chances for it to get improved.
Disquss is also one such plugin but commentluv is the best :)

I entirely agree with you, because I use commentluv on my personal blog. But on my websites, I thought they don’t need.
These updates are great Kiesha. I use commentluv and I always recommend a new blogger get the plugin. If you want to try out the free version first Andy is so nice he will give you the same support as paying members. There are not a lot of plugin admins that back the free versions. The plugin has done wonders for my blog, I even wrote a post on the benefits. You have to try this plugin.
There are super compelling reasons and honestly the only major reason I am not using CommentLuv on my site is because it still has way to much spam. My site with 1500 visits per month and CommentLuv Premium has 3x as much spam comments I have to weed through as my Livefyre site still even with the latest updates (not the newest, newest though).
The author feature is a huge plus and I am sure my writers would like that, but I am still waiting for Livefyre to get to version 3 of the commenting system and catch up.

I think the new feature to fight the spam was really required as there are lot of people currently exploiting this thing….good job by Andy and I must say commentluv is one of the best plugins I have ever used.

I agree with you: comment luv is the greatest dofollow comment system for website editors and for commentators. Both have advantages in using CommentLuv: the commentator get dofollow links and the editor get visitors.
