Dominate Your Blogging Goals and Achieve Your Desired Income Level

Money - SavingsThis is a guest post by Patrick Meninga of Make Money With No Work. He recently sold his website for $200,000 dollars.

When I was stuck in a full time day job with seemingly no end in sight, I desperately wanted to create a full time income online so that I could purchase my freedom.

I wanted nothing more than to check my daily online income and see $100 dollars or more, each and every day.

I wanted the ability to work on my online businesses at my leisure, without being forced to work every day in a job I did not enjoy.

I finally learned how other Internet marketers were achieving significant growth online, and I vowed to follow their example and create my own success.

In order to do that, I had to watch what they were doing rather than what they were saying. Subtle difference there, but it represented a huge turning point in my own thinking.

Massive action rules the day

So what did I learn by watching others who were succeeding online?

They were all taking massive action.

For example, one of my marketing mentors was creating massive income growth at the time, and he did it by adding one hundred articles to a website that was already earning money. Another Internet marketer was experiencing huge gains by putting up lots of new content and building links to all of it.

I started to realize that it was all just a big numbers game. Of course creating valuable content was important but the people who were bragging about big income were the ones who were working like mad.

And so I decided to do a little experiment with my own website, which was just sputtering along at around $300/month in income at the time.

I added 40 new articles and threw fresh links at all of them over the course of about three weeks time.

A month or two later my income had doubled to $600/month.

And that was all it took for me. I was convinced in the power of massive action.

I could stop reading about how to make money online, and actually go DO IT instead.

The key to high volume publishing

If your website shows profit potential and you see a trickle of income, do not hesitate or second guess yourself.

You know what you need: a bigger website.

If you are earning around one dollar per day and your website has thirty articles, why not publish a thousand articles and make a thousand dollars per month?

Achieving such publishing goals does not mean that you have to crank out 20 articles per day. Instead, the key is in setting a daily quota and then sticking to it without fail.

Imagine that you publish three articles each and every day–that is over a thousand in less than a year!

Some of the most successful Internet marketers I know even meet their quota before they check their email. They do not allow themselves to do anything online until their three articles have been published each day.

This is a disciplined approach that is not for the faint of heart. Cranking out three quality articles each day is not easy. Do it for over a year and you will almost surely reach your income goal.

If you want massive results, you have to take massive action.

Commit to putting in the work if you truly want to live the dream and purchase your freedom.

What to do if your massive plan fails

This plan is foolproof and will work for anyone provided they take the following three things into account as well:

1) Profit potential.
2) Time – or the age of your website.
3) Link juice – or your website authority.

Profit potential is a function of two things:

1) The volume of people searching for your topic online.
2) The cost of the products and services associated with your topic.

So if your website is about “free jokes” then you will not make any money. A quick way to check profitability is to perform a Google search and see how many ads are showing. Some topics show several pages of advertisements while other searches show little or no ads. Choosing a website topic with a heavy amount of advertising insures that your topic has profit potential.

The time factor is important because the search engines put new websites “on probation” in order to combat web spam. What used to take a few weeks or months to rank for may now take over a year. Allow time for your site to age and recognize that most new content will not reach it’s natural peak in the search results for six months to a year.

Link juice is important if you want to rank a massive amount of quality content and earn money from it. If you add lots of content to your website and see no results for several months, then your website lacks authority. Switch to link building at this point and focus on getting high quality links through guest posting. Once your new content starts to rank you may shift back over to on-site publishing in order to increase income.

Avoid distractions and stick to the plan

This is a fairly simple plan but you have to avoid distractions if you are going to produce high volumes of quality content.

If you are not earning approximately $1.00/per article/per month with your website then start focusing on getting strong links rather than new on-site content.

I personally averaged 3 new articles per day for a few short years and achieved a monthly income of over $2,000/month. Shortly after achieving this income level I was approached by a buyer who offered me $200,000 for my website.

None of those dollar figures would have been possible without the plan of massive action that I had implemented two years prior.

If you want awesome results then you need to make a strong commitment to take daily action. Publishing just three articles per day can easily result in full time income if you know what you are doing. Consistent effort is critical.

  4. @ Matt – I wrote 3 articles per day because I write quickly. It is a matter of sitting down and cranking them out, while knowing your topic well enough not to publish junk just to publish.

I worked from a long list of keywords in order to get article variety and different topics. Reader mailbag type questions were useful too.

One big key was to plan out 3 headlines the night before. Next day, wake up, no question, crank out those 3 articles that you set up the night before. Works like a charm. But, you have to DO it……

  5. Great post Patrick. The main theme as you said being taking action rather than getting distracted.

One thing i would have to ask though is how did you manage to consistently write 3 articles per day and were you working full time marketing at the time?

Many people struggle with ideas for articles and don’t want to rewrite or spin other people’s content. Where did you get your ideas and inspiration for so many articles?

  7. @ James – Yeah I think it is pretty tough to build a real brand with outsourced articles, but it can still be done. I know one guy who does it but he pays $30 each for his articles, not this 5 to 10 dollar stuff that most people grab at places like textBroker, etc.

It can be done but for most people I would recommend that they start with their own writing. At least then they will know what quality level they need to sustain in the long run. I think 10 dollar and under outsourced stuff is dying, or is already dead.

It can be done, but tread with care!

  8. I liked alot of the advice here, especially the advice about the numbers game involved with content. I just wanted to say that another option on the content generation side, if that is not your strong point, is to outsource the article writing. But be prepared to look hard and be very selective to find strong content writers. You will increase expenses somewhat, but you can then put your extra time into other parts of what all needs to be done.

  12. Absolutely fantastic article, really inspiring. My one personal favourite is setting your own realistic goals. Realistic is by far the most important, you have to get the balance right between striving for a goal and not taking it too easy.

  15. The key to growing your blog is to keep it active. This takes a lot of time and effort, and some people just aren’t willing to put the work in. A blog can earn legitimate income over time, but it’s not going to happen overnight. It could take years.

  16. You should also keep in mind that if you created a website or a blog, then you should take care about it every day (refresh its design. write interesting posts, communicate with your readers etc)

  17. I just figured out that the comments are in reverse order here, I was confused! Sorry about that everyone.

@ Andrew – If you are doing the “3 articles per day quota” then I would build up a base of about a hundred articles first (only take you a month or so) and then I would see about landing your first guest post.

For me it is hard to switch back and forth between creating on-site content, and then giving it away via a guest post. So I like to separate the two quite a bit. So I might do like three or four months of on-site content, creating about 400 articles on site. Then I will shift gears and do nothing but guest posting for the next two months. And of course it is tough to get each and every guest post, so you might only get about 5 to 10 of them published in those two months. Then switch back to on-site content production after that….rinse and repeat.

If you have several hundred articles on-site and nothing is happening for you, then you probably need more link juice. Shift to guest posting at that time, until you start seeing results. My 2 cents….

  18. Hi. The massive approach is something I hear for the first time, at least from this point of view. I must say I like it, but do not forget about quality too! I like it because may people spent so much time trying to learn something that will help them make the money. Some golden knowledge. But if they just spent that time in work, they would have achieved success. This is driven from laziness if you ask me. Of course that does not mean people should only act and not think or learn. There is a time for all.
I want to ask something too. How to make many articles, when my site is about a subject that is pretty little and I am afraid I will use up all the subjects I can write about :)?
    Regards.

  20. The easiest way to make money from blogging is selling ad space in your blog. You can do this by either putting in a space like Google Adsense, or by going out and contacting companies and offer to sell space (or they come to you).

  26. Some might see the phrase ‘take action now’ as just a gimmick, but it’s really not. It’s a testiment to how you want to live your life. Do you want to take action TODAY and get results TODAY or do you want to sit on the sidelines and wait for something to happen? :)

Sticking to the plan can be the hardest part in any well-thought out idea, so I think your last tip is actually the most important. Because you can take action and you can have goals, but if you don’t stick to them and if you’re not consistent, then there could be trouble.

    Great tips, Patrick!

I totally agree with the massive action. Working a blog from home doesn’t mean a lot of leisure time and relaxing, on the opposite it needs a lot of work and efford in order to bring results! So massive action is a challenge with ourselfs and it’s needed especially if a blog is in recession.

  31. Awesome advice Patrick! Yes it really does come down to a numbers game. I hope to build up my new blog to that level. I just realize that with a brand new blog it is probably better to take it slow to start. That way I can concentrate on building lots of deep links as I go along. Eventually all that work should start to pay off and less link building will be required. Then I can really focus on pumping out a ton of great content.

  32. So this article basically advices people to do some seo by building links to their site and then publish loads of content that has to also be good. Well yes, I mean if you want to have a steadily growing website then link building and fresh content is a must. This is common sense and if it’s not then you shouldn’t be blogging.

  33. Thats’s great that you have written a story based on your own experience and gave erlly valuable tips. I like success story and I think your story is like this.

  34. A majority of people are stuck in a day job and have no clue on how to use the Internet to make money online. It is a sad emotion for many, who want to make the transition from working for someone else, to being their own boss on the World Wide Web. Earning $100 online every day is a good start, when starting out. Sometimes, Internet marketers say and do two different things. College of content understands why you watched what Internet marketers did, versus, what they said.

No one will make it rich overnight working on the web. Like you said, everything takes time to come into fruition online, as you have to keep creating content each day. “High-volume publishing”, informative content and [quality inbound links] are not only keys to getting good SEO, but are also the keys to getting good positions in search engine results pages for years to come, in addition to experiencing the goodness of passive web traffic from search engines and social networks. Keep up the good work in your blogging efforts.
