And it’s really good to obtain emails addresses that way, because you’re firstly giving something away and people are just paying you back with their emails. If your free report or blueprint is a decent one, it is really a fair exchange. Everyone is happy.

I like your idea of giving your email to get one back. That is something that too many guard against which doesn’t help to build your connections and confidence with your audience. All great points, but I am in particular agreement on #2 (offering a free report). A good quality free report is a way to both show your knowledge about your primary niche and build your authority. And when you do share a special discount on your fan page or twitter, ask them to ‘share’ and then see how many responses and orders are generated. I was always under the impression that you could not monetize social media.
I always love #3 from a customer perspective. When a restaurant or store offers discounts special to only followers I feel so special. LOL.
And #4 is so important. I think many think that others in the industry are competition or may not be interested in joining you but they are wrong. I have made connections thru my blogging. I guess I better work on SM too.

Hi Allie, I currently have several affiliate products that I promote on my blog. It isn’t the in your face advertising that some sites like to use. Instead, they are products that I have used and I am always referring my clients to them. It is another income stream that doesn’t take up a lot of time.

Some interesting ideas Lynn. I personally like the idea of issuing discounts and promotions via social media or a newsletter. The only problem can be that other retailers do the same, and your discount can be drowned out and your target base simple switches off to that type of message.
