Guest Post by William Veasley
Blogging is rapidly taking over the web. Everyone and their momma’s are throwing up new blogs. Look left and you’ll see an awe-inspiring blog. Look right and you’ll see another breathtaking blog.
With all the picture perfect blogs around the web it’s hard not to dream of having your own success. It’s very possible to have your own piece of utopia where you’re the main attraction.
There are steps you can take to turn your dreams into reality. It might not happen fast, or it might not take long at all.
You can most certainly become that blogger everyone’s talking about (In a good way).
Anything’s possible if you start living one day at a time, and follow these simple tips.
Learn To Share The Wealth
When you first start out no one will know who you are and what you represent. There are tons of blogs out there that would love a little extra promotion. If you read a post you really enjoyed share it with your followers.
A tweet would be a nice gesture, or even a free one way link. Any help is better than no help, because people notice the little things. The little things you do for others are what builds strong relationships with bloggers.
Know Your Purpose
I was reading the YoungPrePro blog critique by Chris Garret and he goes deeper into why knowing your purpose online is so important. If you don’t know your target audience then what you’re talking about will be irrelevant to them.
You might attract a small audience, but you’ll quickly loose readership talking about things other than the purpose of your blog. Here are some questions you can ask yourself:
• What am I passionate about?
• What makes me happy?
• What do I know enough of that could benefit another person?
Simple questions will help you know your purpose. Instead of going off on different subjects focus on capitalizing on what’s working for you.
Fight The War With Consistency
It’s so freaking hard to stay constant with anything these days. There’s so much in this world that will only serve as a distraction. Your motivation might be slipping, you find yourself sick, someone sells you a wolf ticket, school gets in the way, or you don’t have a penny to your name.
These are 5 distractions to look out for, because they will kill your consistency.
When you’re missing in action for weeks at a time your readership will quickly decrease. It’s very important to stay completely focused. If your going to get in the business make sure you can do that before you waste your time and money.
In any business you have to stay consistent. Practice and it will become natural and easy to keep up with the work load.
Connect With Those That Connect With You
If you follow the above tips there will be people that connect with you. Some might enjoy what you promote so much that they reply with a comment. Other people might share your content on various social networks.
You might even get lucky and get that one way link we were talking about earlier. Whatever way people decide to help you it’s still taking time out of their day. Take a little time out of your to do the same.
This could be so much as taking the time to read one of their post, and if you liked it finishing off by a retweet. Everyone likes to get their posts retweeted. That will surely put a smile on anyone’s face!
Conclusion
Being that blogger starts from connecting with the other bloggers around you. Build as many strong relationships as possible. You never know how far a positive relationship can take you until you have one.
It’s very hard to stand out as a blogger with all the competition, but it’s very possible. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Community Discussion
• Do you take the time to connect with your community?
• Do you help spread other people’s word?
• Are you inconsistent?
• Is it hard for you to stay motivated?
• Do you believe you have what it takes to be that blogger?

Building a relationship is very necessary in blogging. Relationship helps you build your credibility online, increase your site traffic and expose your blog in the blogosphere.
I agree that they are still working and I also know some bloggers who are still using these tips…

I totally agree. some people might not appreciate the power of blogging but i think it has become a powerful tool in understanding society. Its a great way to share your ideas and your insights. :)
Well, I completely agree with the author. Building a strong relationship with other blogging communities and your blog visitors is very much necessary to get success in any niche. One should always offer something that might make others (visitors) happy and that makes them feel glad they visit this blog.
I agree that those tips here are still working for me….Thanks for remembering them…
Is this really possible??I can’t seem to believe that this can still work…I think I have to try this then…Thank you for the information…
Yup, this conventional blogging tips still work for me..
Perfect tips! Blogging is all about building relationships. You don’t want to create a blog and be alone. Connecting with people, especially to co-bloggers can help you in your way to success. It requires effort to build a trust relationship with people online.
Ha, I like that “5 distractions” list…I guess I never thought of text messaging as a distraction. Maybe because I’m held so tightly on my electronic leash! I’ve been having trouble sitting and staying consistent with my writing so now I know to put the phone away, not look at the internet unless it pertains to what I’m doing, and to turn off the TV, too…thanks goodness for DVR.
I hope this will definitely still work…This is important and I think I have to try this too..

Great standard tips which will be welcomed all the times and in any period. The main one from my point of your is to know the aim of the blog. If you know why you need a blog you will ahve better results and your work will be purposeful
in my opinion, consistency is the best thing and content comes second. I have seen some lazy bloggers (count me in) who writes a couple of post and then sleeps for a couple of months. Whereas who maintains consistency, slowly learn the trick and starts providing good content with their experience.
Thanks for sharing this post.

Blogging is taking over the Internet? :) Or is it already taken over?
“It’s very hard to stand out as a blogger with all the competition, but it’s very possible.” For starters, I think it doesn’t require to compete with others since you’ll be stepped on. The effective way to gain your momentum in blogging, “Connect With Those That Connect With You” with this I’m pretty sure you’ll create good relationship with co-bloggers and this could be your first step to your success.
Consistency and motivation are the two biggest challenges for me, and anyone else who isn’t a full time blogger. If you blog and engage in social media as an adjunct to your main business, it becomes very difficult to keep up with it all when things start to get busy. I do love blogging and Twittering and reaching out to people online though, it’s just a matter of finding the time to do it all!

Hi, William,
I do take time to post comments and drive traffic back to blog of other bloggers that appreciate it. It is of great relevance to connect with people.
I agree that when you start nobody knows who you are, so it is necessary to share and make great content, in addition to it. It is true that it is hard to keep up with all the competition, but those that are dedicated will always make it through somehow.
The bottom point is-one should never give up if results are to be achieved.

“Being that blogger starts from connecting with the other bloggers around you.” – I totally agree with you. It always start with communication, creating relation with other bloggers so you can have primary visitor of your site. In my perspective, at first blogger doesn’t need to compete with others start with your own pace until you got to the point where you can stand along other bloggers.
Don’t forget to write great content as well. That combined with these conventional tips will do wonders for a blog.

One of my favorite things to do is showcase other bloggers in posts on my site, I particularly enjoy finding a new site I hadn’t come across before. I hold contests and sometimes just ask people to participate in questions and feature them and their site in a response article. The appreciation and networking aspect is a plus as well.

There are definitely a lot of different blogs popping up everywhere these days, and it’s important to take steps to set yourself apart from the rest. I think the most important tip you gave to do this is to know your purpose.
Like you said, if you don’t know what your audience wants you will lose more readers than you attract. I also think being consistent is a very important key to stand out from all the other blogs out there, because a lot of people start blogs but only a handful of them actually keep up with the tasks of running a successful blog.
Great post William, I plan on building as many relationships as I can with other bloggers.
Melony recently posted..The Real Causes of Recurring Yeast Infections & Treatments To Stop Them
William, this is so perfectly in line with what I was thinking when I set up BlogRiffers.com. The idea there is to write blog posts inspired by others’ posts (quote a brief excerpt and write a post around it).
Share the wealth = link back to whoever you got the idea and quote from. Consistency = it’s much easier to come up with things to blog about regularly when you’re looking for things to Riff on as you read others’ blogs (that’s how I went from twice-a-month to daily blogger). And connect with those that connect with you = give Riffbacks.
I thought about writing a Blog Riff on this instead of leaving a comment, but what would I have had to add other than agreement?

A successful blogger must be good in establishing social relationship with other bloggers. Even consistency is more important. Learn to share is absolutely the good thing which everybody should follow.
but, for a personal blogger who blogs for hobby and not money, it’s not possible to stick to a single topic..
great points, though :)
would surely share these tips with my friends/followers/circles.
thanks.

What is important in blogging is that your blogs should be fresh, unique and original. Choose your words. It should be catchy to the eyes of your readers. And always be kind and keep the communication open.
There is competition everywhere and blogging is no exception.
As William outlines knowing your purpose helps to connect with the audience.
The audience are looking for some knowledge as well as solution to their problem.
Knowing the target audience and providing content accordingly can be a great leverage to the online business..
