Rather than start today with a contest entry, I’d like to take a moment to clarify how things will proceed.
The contest will proceed as follows:
I’m going to post contest entries in the order in which they were received. However, if a contestant has submitted more than one post, then the subsequent entry will publish no sooner than 7 days later to leave room for variety and to give everyone a fair chance at winning.
Again the deadline for submitting entries will be May 31, 2011, 11:59pm EST. But as long as there are pending posts in the cue, if they were submitted by the deadline, I will continue to publish posts until all contest entries have been posted.
After all entries are live, depending on how many entries there were, judging will take between 1-2 weeks to be completed. I have not selected judges to help with this process yet, but will announce them once they’ve been recruited.
I will disperse the prizes within 1-2 days after winners have been announced. The 1st Place winner gets to choose between the 3 non-cash prizes. The 2nd Place winner gets to choose been the 2 non-cash prizes that are left and the 3rd Place winner will get whichever non-cash prize remains. If any of these prizes go unclaimed, after 7 days, the prizes will be forfeited. In the event that there are any forfeited prizes, I will collaborate with the sponsors to determine what actions will be taken.
Eligible Contest posts will be judged based on the level of quality and how well they’ve been promoted.
Scoring:
- 10 Points for retweets. Contestants may retweet their entries once per day – any additional tweets will not be counted.
- 15 Points per comment. (I will give points for authentic comments and replies, however, I will only count up to 3 threads. Feel free to extend your threads as far as you’d like, but I will only count the first 3.)
- 20 Points for Facebook Shares and/or Likes.
- 20 Points for each vote on Blog Interact.
- 20 Points for each vote on Blokube.
- 50 Points for incoming links (If the links to your post don’t automatically trackback, you’ll need to email me the link in order for it to count. If your post gets published on Blog Enage, or another similar voting site, that is considered as a link. However, simple submissions won’t count as a link unless they’ve been voted up to publish.)
- 50-100 Points for a high quality, well-written blog post.
- 2 Points for each Page View.
If you’re a contestant, please be sure that your contest entry follows the guidelines. (Posts that are completely off topic will not be published.) I must receive a link to the required contest announcement post that should be published on your blog no later than May 31, 2011, 11:59pm EST in order for your contest entry to be eligible. No exceptions.
At any point, contest guidelines may be subject to change – my goal is to maintain the integrity of this contest, however, in the event that a change must be made, I will announce it on this blog. Please be sure to read all contest updates to ensure your post remains eligible and follows all guidelines.
