I Put the “Pee” in Passion When it Comes to Blogging

Print Friendly

Women's Restroom Sign

I had been working on my blog all morning and while rushing to make some breakfast for my son, I realized my bladder was pounding.  I didn’t want to stop cooking – so I was moving as fast as I could.

Then my hubby noticed that I was doing the pee-squirm

Rather than being compassionate and taking over the breakfast duties, he decided to imitate me and for some reason, in my state of near delirium, I starting laughing… and then I felt my bladder giving out on me and had to make a mad dash for the bathroom.  I almost didn’t make it!

After the ordeal, I had to laugh at myself. It was so ridiculous how I waited until the ABSOLUTE last minute. There could’ve been a tragedy… How would I have explained that to my four year old, when I’m constantly fussing at him for doing the very same thing?

I know… shame on me!

But that reminded me of how passionate I am about blogging and writing awesome posts for you.  I absolutely love it – so much that I literally almost put the “pee” in passion on my kitchen floor.

I know… in some ways, that’s a bit pathetic (the other-other P-word). But that’s how much I enjoy what I’m doing – and because I enjoy it so, it never feels like work.

There are so many rewarding aspects of blogging such as networking with new friends, watching my ranking climb, seeing my posts shared around the blogosphere – it’s wonderful and worth wearing Depends any day of the week. (just kidding!) :)

Has this every happened to you?  Have you ever gotten so caught up in blogging that you forgot to take a restroom break?  Eat? Sleep? Live?

With so many things going on sometimes when you sit down and have the chance to write you get ‘locked’ in to the task. You totally focus to the point of losing track of time.

I haven’t done the pee thing, but going thru lunch at times and I don’t do that often….fat boy gotta eat……:).

Cute post, I enjoyed the read.

  2. Kiesha, aloha. Needless to say when I saw the name of this post in my stream–no pun intended–I clicked right over.

Though I have been caught up in writing a post, I must admit I have not been quite that caught.

That being said, it is amazingly easy to lose track of time either writing or clicking through the links on a great post.

Thx for the smiles. Enjoy a great weekend. Aloha. Janet

      Hi Janet!
LOL! I think saying “No pun intended” makes the pun even funnier! HA!
Sometimes, I get just get so caught up, I forget about everything else going on around me – I love what I do, but I’ll even admit that that is ridiculous. :D I’ve been a little better with this lately.

  3. I rarely don’t take a pee break when blogging, but at my day job I am on 10 hours of meetings in a row, often meetings lasting hour after hour. On more than one occasion somebody pulls a “Naked Gun” and forgets to mute the phone when they flush or pull up a zipper and everyone on the call hears it.

      LOL! Hi Justin,
I guess my problem is that I get so caught up in what I’m doing that pausing to take a break is an unwanted interruption. But at least those guys had an excuse – a 10 hour meeting is outrageous.

  4. I agree with your message however theres a few things I would have added in there too.

  5. It happens to almost everyone for us and it’s not just with restroom breaks, answering calls, heading out of the office etc are included. Personally when I’m really into what I’m doing at the moment eg writing an intricate blog post, I don’t stop or give way to interruptions until I’m done ;-)

I was reading your post and when I read the words

    “I know….. shame on me!”

I blurted out laughing. That was a really amusing story. I wish more blogs told stories like that.

  9. That post really made my day! Quite a fun one to read! This has actually happened to me as well once or twice. Sometimes you just can’t stop with what you’re doing and that is when bad things can happen. LOL!

      Hi Daniel,
Glad you enjoyed this post. Sometimes I just get caught up and feel like I just have to finish before I get up – sometimes it takes longer than I expected and that’s when I get in these situations :)

I’ve not done that but I have sometimes looked at the time and missed my lunch! You are right blogging is such fun and if you are enjoying something so much you can forget to do the essentials. BTW glad you made it or you would have had some explaining to do to your 4 year old eh??!!

What a wonderful title and great anecdote. I was really able to picture your husband giving you a hard time and it was amusing to me.

It probably says something about the nature of guys but I find that hysterical (any sort of bathroom humor is really funny by default IMO).

I have burned away 12 hour periods or so online, but I usually am able to make myself go live a little bit each day.

The only thing I sometimes have problems with is a really good book. I get a great one and I cannot put it down until it is done. This has become an issue on the occasional 1000-1200 page books.

      Hi Steve,
Wow! Those must be some books! I’ve done that before also… one time I stayed up all night because I just had to finish that book. It’s weird, like I was hypnotized or something.

  12. Kathy says:

    Knock knock.

    Who’s there.

I would finish the joke but I am afraid of what might happen to you if I do.

I think we have all been there. I can’t say I would do that because of a post though. That is probably why you write better than I do.

  13. To be honest I have done the same thing. There have been many times where I have been sitting down and either working on my blog (of which I have writers block at the moment) or reading and commenting on others blogs so intently that I forgot I had to go. Usually I realize that I have to go when I finish up a comment and read it over for mistakes. Oh, look at that, I have to go now!

I’m so happy to get here and see YOUR name as the author. It’s almost like having to hear a guest preacher every time you go to visit a specific church, lol. They’re good but sometimes you want to hear the Pastor. ;-) (just had to say that)

What a treat! Nah, I’ve yet to be THAT passionate!

    Very funny.

Kiesha it’s so funny you mention this. I’m always pushing my bladder when it comes to blogging.

This morning I was putting together the top engaged on the week and I held it in from number 5 to number 10 and when I was done I really had to go LOL.

Between linking to their articles and getting the images it’s a pretty long process lol.

Thankfully I made it but I wanted to let you know your not alone I think many of us do it.
