When your comments are low and your traffic is few, it is easy to call it quits. Some bloggers quit, but you are one blogger who will not give up.
You have chosen a topic that is dear to your heart. You try your best to write awesome content, but sometimes, more than you like, you have few comments and low traffic numbers.
How will you cope with the downtime that you have? Surely you are not thinking about shutting down your blog?
Here are a few ways that you can get through the downtime:
1. Keep writing helpful and useful content. You may be the only one on your blog at times, but don’t let that discourage you. Instead spend your time writing content that will move your readers to action. Remember the more you write; the greater your chances are that someone will land on your blog.
2. Keep the purpose of your blog in the forefront. It can be tempting to begin writing about other topics. But you must always keep in mind the reason you started your blog in the first place. Sticking to your purpose will keep you focused on writing content that you know your readers desire.
3. Work on your projects. If you have been trying to get around to writing an e-book, or reviewing a book or product, now is the time to complete the task. A little downtime can be a good thing because it will allow you the time to blog even better.
There will be dry spells on your blog, but you must be able to get through those times. Don’t be so quick to believe that you are doing something wrong.
Instead, remember that life happens and people get busy with their everyday living activities. If you keep that in mind then, things will be just fine. And in the mean time, you just keep on writing!
What do you do when your comments get low and your traffic is few?

What a nice topic to write about. I love your tips! I truly believe that as long as we are doing the right things and we trust that it will work, then eventually it will all come back. We cannot let a slump get us out of the game. Even in basketball, shooters are told to keep shooting to get their rhythm back.
Keep on working on it., don’t give up! :)

Sometimes one can wonder whether just writing is good enough to get noticed. It is really tedious to feel that you are sometimes alone, due to a small number of traffic you get and almost no comments. But I agree with you that one should not quit early and keep on doing what the initial purpose of their blogging journey was about, providing useful and informative articles. Now, we won’t achieve that if we stopped writing, would we? Great advices..

Thanks for the helpful advice. It can be discouraging when you don’t feel like enough people are subscribing or commenting. It must be accepted that it takes some serious work to get a site serious traffic. I agree that this downtime can be benefical to develop some products and set things up more efficiently. Thanks!
Good post. The advice kind of reminds me of the P90X workout DVDs. Tony always says “Just keep pressing play, keep pressing play” Same thing could be said for your blog.
“Just kept press space” As long as you have some words in-between those spaces lol

Hey Wayne,
I like that! “Keep pressing play” Reminds me of pressing on..no matter what.

When I go through periods like that I ask my other half to give me some ideas for my blog. He does and just yesterday I was writing a new article and I got stuck with the second part of my article so I let it go and went back to it the following day. That when the words starting flowing. Sometimes you just need to take a break to get the jucies going.
Thanks for those suggestions.

Well written article. The reader gains a sense that you have dealt with the issue of low comments without once writing “I”. For what it’s worth, the primary reason why I won’t even finish reading a blog entry, let alone leave a comment, is when the blogger is focused on themselves and most of the sentences begin with “I”. It’s OK to interject an occasional personal note, if only to establish credibility as having experienced first-hand what is being described. To use the blog as a monologue of all about you, what you did, what you thought, what you experienced, etc. is a quick way to loose me as a reader.
Hi Mr. Picasso!
Thank you!

Taking a step back from your blog sometimes helps. I feel my creativity get blocked when I get too overwhelmed with trying to keep up.
Having multiple blogs with different purposes helps, too. BizChickBlogs is a busy blog and there’s a lot to do, so when I feel myself spinning my wheels, I write for my personal development blog instead, where I can be funny, personal, and motivating in a very different way.

Tia,
I totally agree with stepping away from your blog. It has helped me..I always come back refreshed and recharged.
I wasn’t aware of your personal development blog. That’s cool! I’ll be starting up another site soon and I think it will be just what I need in those times when things are a little slow.
Take care, Tia!

I think the thing to do here is not to force yourself too much. Go and take a break and come back refreshed. If you write just for the sake of it to keep up your post quota it will show in the quality and be damaging to the authority of your blog. This is supposed to be fun too remember..!
Presentwise,
You share some good points. Key point “remember this is supposed to be fun.” Keeping that in mind will help during the dryer times.
Thanks!

Hi Evelyn,
Yes, it’s super important not to quit. I use those dry spells to do some additional research and self-education. I always discover new gaps in my knowledge and I often find new methods that motivate and re-invigorate me during those times.
Hi Kiesha,
Additional research and self-education is always a winner. This is something every blogger should do. Thanks for sharing that.

This is an interesting topic Evelyn.
During the dry spell, more community participation can be a good option…like commenting more on other blogs, preparing some guest posts etc. I like your idea of completing projects.

Hey Evelyn,
This is so true…most individuals throw in the towel.
The best thing to do when your comments are low. Is to go back to the basics. Learn how to drive traffic by some of the most common methods (commenting, article marketing within your niche directories, video marketing, I can go on and on…)
I’ll chat with you later…

I’m so glad you mentioned that people get busy. It’s easy for bloggers to take it personally when things are slow, but there just aren’t enough hours in the day for people to be everywhere and do anything. Sometimes they can’t visit us or if they do, they won’t comment, and that’s fine. Things will pick up if we just keep on keepin’ on. Great ideas on how to do that, Evelyn! I use my dryer spells/slower days to enjoy a little free time :)
