What are you doing to build your blog’s community?

It takes a whole community to grow a blog.

Having a faithful group of return visitors who are willing to share your content makes all the difference when it comes to promoting your blog.  It’s not such an uphill battle.

The key is to make the people who visit your blog feel like they are a part of a mutually beneficial relationship.  In today’s TIP Team post, I reveal a few tricks for doing just that.

I think that a good idea is to mention or even review some blog posts of other bloggers and link to them. You might get trackback or the other bloggers might check out your blog and link to it sometimes in their posts.
It is also important to communicate with your visitors and not only to every one at once, but directly to each one (maybe not to all) and using his name and building relationship with them over time.

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s the community, or tribe, that develops around a blog that makes or breaks it. As bloggers, we should make sure our readers know that we appreciate them. As fellow tribe members we need to remember to interact with our tribe and venture away from our own sites to do it.

Answering comments is a good start to build a community. If readers can have an answer from the blog owner, it makes them less ‘anonymous’.

Going to be checking out the tips in just a minute. I think building up a blog community is almost always going to be a slow start but having the blogger contribute to the conversation in the comments is always a huge thing in many successful blogs. I think if people feel like what they write in the comments is heard and adds to the overall conversation then they will continue to come back day after day.
