In my post Why Blog?, I created a neat little acronym to describe the word blog.
Although I was being a little silly when I defined BLOG as:
Boldly
Leveraging
Opportunities
Globally
there’s actually a lot of weight in that description.
My blog has certainly created a lot of opportunities for me that wouldn’t have otherwise been possible.
I’ve also seen blogs work wonders in the lives of others – consider Julie Powell or more recently, the former owner of this blog, Brandon Cox.
His blogging has landed him a pastoral position alongside Rick Warren, pastor of the famous Saddleback Church – if you don’t know who Rick Warren is, he is the author of best-seller, Purpose Driven Life – he gave the Inaugural prayer for our current president.
Because of blogging and social media, Brandon and his family are now on their way to sunny California! What an amazing opportunity!
In today’s TIP post over at TheInfoPreneur, it’s not specifically about blogging, but it definitely can be applied, so go check it out:
Draw Your Own Door of Opportunity
Then think of ways you can use your blog to create your own opportunity of a lifetime.
Please be sure to comment and retweet if you find it useful :)

Blogging is indeed a great way to open doors for new opportunities. You can reach your potential clients not only in your region but also globally.
This is my first time stopping to leave a comment. I want to say that I really enjoy reading this blog and I’ve just started my own one. For me this was a huge opportunity to start sharing my opinions with others. I can say that the door finally opened for me.
This article is a great reminder that we need to open our own doors of opportunity.
I have the welcome mat out for when opportunity knocks.

Hi Jillb2!
I like the idea of sitting out a welcome mat – that’s a great way to think of it!
Nowadays blogging is already a way of life and if you have one you can say that you are one of those lucky individuals because you can leverage your blog to have a successful business online. You can share what’s going through your mind and you can also blog about the latest news on whatever niche you like.

Hi,
Yeah, it’s a pretty wonderful way to share your life and experiences with others.
Blogging is a great way to reach people that you would other wise never meet, or have the opertunity to express something. Applications like facebook and twitter are other great additions to open doors as well.

Hi Ryan,
That’s exactly why it’s so powerful.
Brandon Cox is the founder of fuel your blog right? Anyway, I also believe in that, and I can also see some that are transforming in to a better blogger with greater perceptions along the way, since you can really learn a lot just from interacting with your own kind and from reading what they have to share. Well, as for my experience here at weblogbetter, I personally have learned a lot, just by reading and observing how things are formulated around here. Plus kiesha is so very courteous, making the whole experience worth sharing with others :)
so with opportunities? I get to know great people with great ideologies in life, what more can I ask for. I’m being surrounded by good people who are ready to share their knowledge with others, for free!
Regards,
Jason

Hi,
Yes, that’s the right Brandon. I’m glad you’re able to learn from my experiences, it makes blogging that much sweeter for me. :)
I also am heading over there but had to add my comment here first as well. I agree that blogs absolutely open doors for many opportunities and they’re a great way to socialise and express what you know something about.
Heading that way now. :)

Hi Eric,
Thanks for stopping to share your thoughts. It is an awesome way to meet people you never would’ve gotten the chance to meet any other way.
Kiesha,
I am so excited for Brandon. It’s almost like I am starting his new job with him. As a blogger, it’s encouraging to see someone use their blogging and social media platforms to not only give back to their readers but to leverage it for themselves as well. He’s a great guy, and I wish him all the best.
Now on to your link. ;)

I know, I really hope he blogs about his experience so I can feel as if I’m living it – that’s truly the ultimate opportunity for ministry.
Hi Kiesha,
I’ll going over there to check it out. I do have to say that by blogging it has connected me with some influential individuals in my industry. I’ve been able to create some cool JV projects with some folks that I wouldn’t have meet if it wasn’t for my blog.
Have a great weekend,
Josh

Hi Kiesha,
I love the thought that my blog will open doors to opportunities I never thought possible.
This really reinforces more than ever the need to create your blog in a way that is uniquely you.
I really like your acronym.

Hey Kiesha, I’m with Jean in that I had to comment on how true it is, and for me that came true in the form of being a part of the TIP team for instance.
heading over now to check it out.
PS: Love the acronym! Hit the nail right on the head with that one

Hi Alex!
Thanks for stopping by – I appreciate it!
I’m headed over to read your post, but I had to pop in here to add my agreement about blogs being door openers. In the short time I’ve had my blog, both offline and online opportunities have come my way. This has really opened my eyes to the power of blogs and the importance of styling a blog to align with our desired outcomes.
