One of the best advantages to starting a home-based internet business is having your independence! One of the lesser advantages of that independence is not having your usual network of colleagues around you. Almost everyone needs people to share ideas with or get feedback from, and if you are running your business on your own, you may be wondering who you can talk to. Social networking sites could be the solution for you. You can use them for anything from getting more customer contacts to getting affiliate marketing tips.
There are many social networking sites out there that can help you stay connected with both your customers and your much-needed colleagues and associated businesses. Social networks also expand your reach, helping you get to customers who otherwise would not know you are there.
Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace are fast and easy ways to manage your Public Relations (PR). You can keep your customers updated about your new products and promotions; tell them about upcoming or past social events; provide links to your newsletters or articles; or you can provide sign-up links for them to automatically receive any of those.
The friends and followers of your customers will also see these posts and links, which could help drive even more traffic to your site. You can easily include links to social networking sites on your website or in your emails and newsletters. Your site host or tool provider will have the information you need to establish these links.
There are also business-related networking sites, such as LinkedIn, PartneredUp, and Qapacity. Sites like these not only connect you with trusted business associates, but also allow you to promote your business, maintain contact details, and acquire new contacts. Also, if you are looking for a new affiliate marketing opportunity, you may be able to find one on any of these sites.
Business-oriented networking sites connect you with business people who share your interests. They are a great resource for getting feedback, advice, or ideas from others who are also just starting out or from those who have valuable experience that you could learn from. In addition, if you are looking to hire someone to work for you, then one of these sites may have the person you are looking for. While often ridiculed, these sites actually have millions of registered users all over the world and can be a great asset for your business.
So, from the very minute you made your decision to start an internet business, it’s a good idea to set aside some regularly scheduled time to keep your social networking presence up-to-date. Make sure that your business “friends and connections” always have something to consider about you by regularly posting on your own pages and by commenting or asking questions on theirs.
