A slice of the unexpected to take your blog to a new level

Inspired by today’s blog post Secret Blog Ingredient #3 and further encouraged by another great blogger, I’ve decided to make it official and invite all who are brave enough to enter.

In the spirit of one of my favorite Food Network shows, The Iron Chef , I’ll be giving you an unusual ingredient (a word or phrase) to work with.  You’ll compose a blog post in which you somehow connect it to your blog niche.  Read today’s post for ideas for using interesting similes, metaphors and analogies to add a slice of the unexpected in your writing.

The blogger with the best post will win the “Iron Blogger Award” and free Ad space until the end of the month. All contestants will receive a free backlink for participating, so it really is a win-win situation for everybody.

Iron Blogger Ingredient:  “Oysters”

Contest Guidelines

  1. Use the Iron Blogger Ingredient above and create an interesting post  that relates the word to your niche.
  2. Submit your post by Friday, March 12, 2010 before 11:59pm EST.
  3. Use the Contact form to submit your entry.
  4. Retweet this post.

That’s it!  I’ll announce the winner on Monday, March 15, 2010.

Are you kidding? :) That’s the beauty of a challenge. It seems impossible until you start letting the creative juices flow. Although I picked the word rather randomly and haphazardly, I can already think of ways an oyster can be related to lifestyle design and business.
I don’t want to give away any clues, but what’s the best thing about an oyster? :)

  4. Interesting Kiesha, I never found a contest like this. I’m little busy with my blog’s target but I’ll try to create an article with “oyster” :)
This is really challenging and unusual contest for me. Great Idea Kiesha and Thanks!

  9. This was great fun Kiesha! I had a vague memory of something to do with oysters in Cambridge where I live, work and blog. Sure enough – there was lots to say about oysters. Who would’ve thunk?!
