I’m assuming you’ve heard of this new thing called Twitter. It’s okay. It has a few fans. And maybe you’ve also heard of a tool called Friendfeed.. It used to have a few fans, but they all left when Facebook bought Friendfeed. (I exaggerate.)
Well, enter Cliqset. I’m in love.
Cliqset is gaining maturity and popularity rather quickly. Mashable has given it quite a bit of attention. It’s interface is top-notch. It includes everything you could want in a micro-blogging platform: geolocation features, a Firefox add-on, file-sharing, image sharing, and its strongest feature in my opinion – the ability to automatically aggregate content from across all of your social media profiles, which was the strength of Friendfeed in its prime.
Is it the next big thing? Will it topple Twitter? I don’t think so – at least not right now. Cliqset inherits the same unfortunate weakness Friendfeed had – its usefulness is forced to leech off of Twitter, at least for now. That is, most social media users will have a hard time simply switching. They’ll just add Cliqset to the toolbox but it will remain dependent upon active Twitter users for the moment.
But in my mind, it’s about ten times better than Twitter. It really is what Twitter should look like, and it’s what Friendfeed needed to become.

Hey Brandon thanks for the info. Cliqset looks like good. But its another social media site to join… LOL. I am joining now. Thanks for the post.

Haha, I know what you mean. I only try to manage 3 or 4 at a time. Cliqset’s strength is as an aggregator of the others.
I joined Cliqset several months ago after seeing it on TechCrunch. The software is good, but the community is limited and nowhere near as passionate as the FriendFeed community was at one time. Even the “big” accounts (that’s a relative term) have very little activity surrounding them.
Yes, it’s well constructed, but I am skeptical. There seems to be something missing with the current community involved.
You have a good point – it’s going to be an uphill climb. I think it’s going to be hard for any new service to break into the micro-blogging or aggregation game.
Interesting dude. I agree with you. Cliqset is recommended to anyone who belongs to multiple social networking sites and is looking for a solution to consolidate all of their online content.
I love it – just wish it would take off in popularity.
Thanks Brandon – I’d never heard of Cliqset & it looks like a good tip. Best wishes, Will
