Blogging should not be about getting ideas as fast as you can. It is all about delivering the right one with the best thoughts. Readers dont want something that's half baked. Our readers would like to have something they can read again and again where they can learn something.

Nice post. :)

Good analogy. I must agree that blogging is a marathon. You really need have a proper mindset in order to reach your goals. You have to make a plan and check your stats less often for you to spend more time in productive things.

Well, "blogging is really a marathon and not a sprint" because your goal must be keeping your blog alive for many years

"Blogging should be viewed as a marathon, not a sprint." - Hi Brandon, excellent point here. I would even go as far as saying this applies to the whole on-line/internet marketing business as well. A lot of guys start a blog or a website and don't see results after a month and throw in the towel. The best tip I can give to folks is to buy a domain name for 3 years (Google prefers this), and then commit to it for a couple of years. Just do a tiny little bit each day. You will be amazed what you can achieve in 6 months, let alone 3 years.
Thanks for the great read

All the best,

I was Googling the difference between a sprint and a marathon and hit your blog. I've got to say "Right on, Brother!"

I was reading a book this morning, and came upon this phrase: "Caregiving is not a sprint, it's a marathon." The whole gist of that is its for the long-haul, so a caregiver needs to pace herself, take breaks, have reasonable expectations, or else she'll burn out long before the end.

That's great for being a caregiver, which I am for my parents, but it also applies to dieting. Last year I was doing very well and managed to drop about ten pounds. Last month I got the news from my doctor that I am now considered prediabetic. I went into a panic, decided I had to cut back drastically on my calories so I could lose at twice or thrice the speed. Whoa! What I did was sabotage the whole thing. I have actually gained weight from the crazy spin I went into, starting the day out great but starving, then eating like a maniac by bedtime.

So now I'm back to the Tortoise and the Hair thing, slow but steady. Great blog topic.

Yes, indeed. People should really be more concerned in maintaining their blogs. Because if they don't, the internet will be full of sites that are so outdated they gather cobwebs!

Hi fjordz,
Yeah, there's no such thing as quick - easy - passive money when it comes to blogging. At least not if you plan on having longevity.

Hi Justin,
Yeah - I used to run track, too - I was a distance runner - I couldn't sprint to save my life. But, I always finished - I was exhausted, but I finished. I've been blogging for almost a year and a half and I've already seen so many bloggers come and go - my progress may be slow, but that's better than no progress - any day! :)

I agree with this! Blogging requires passion to continue and be successful. It requires so much hard work and patience. Starters should not look at it as an easy-money job.
