Mediocre Will Do Just Fine, Won’t It?

Print Friendly

Mediocre makes money. You’ll get paid if you do mediocre stuff in life. Do your job, punch the clock, collect the check. In the world of blogging… get a decent domain, throw up a WordPress site, aggregate some good content, integrate adsense, make some Christmas spending money. Do it one hundred times, all mediocre of course, and you’ll multiply the income possibilities of your mediocrity.

OR…

We could do things with excellence. For me, this is necessary if I’m do do everything I do as though I’m doing it for God. For you, the motive may be different, but the goal is the same – excellence in all things.

So…

Have an excellent design.

Write weller… I mean gooder.

Be kind. Be an excellent person before trying to be an excellent blogger.

Network with excellence.

Think big. Think excellent.

Follow excellence.

Lead with excellence.

Realize that you may or may not be able to monetize true excellence. If you can monetize it, do it with excellence.

Don’t be cheap. Don’t scrimp on creativity or imagination. Dream excellently.

If you’re doing things with mediocrity… just stop. Don’t do it at all.

Definately Quality and Creativity is king for me. I don’t want to put out just mediocre stuff I try to create something with substance. Sure maybe it all isn’t great but I try :)

Awesome post! I live with a motto I inherited from my enlisted days in the Air Force. “Excellence in all I do.” I believe in being remarkable. Mediocrity is the opposite. Great post, Brandon.

but will argue that we have all been a mediocre ones in our life.when you are learning something new,you are basically a mediocre.Darren Rowse was a mediocre, when he was learning how to blog.the problem is not BEING A MEDIOCRE but whether we can step up from being a mediocre.

That’s a good point, but some are ahead of their game for where they are. In other words, they are better beginners than other beginners. As long as we’re striving, we’ll get there.

  5. I agree with eveything you mentioned Brandon.
