People who hang out online, whether on those things called “blogs” or those other things called “social networks” (especially Twitter and Facebook) are all really weird, right? They’re socially out-of-touch recluses who are damaging their psyches? Well, apparently NOT.
According to a story broken by Mashable and ReadWriteWeb, social media won’t make you wierd at all. In fact, it may help you learn to relate to people and come out of your shell just a bit.
Via the Mashable story…
“Social media activities are associated with several beneficial social activities, including having discussion networks that are more likely to contain people from different backgrounds. For instance, frequent internet users, and those who maintain a blog are much more likely to confide in someone who is of another race. Those who share photos online are more likely to report that they discuss important matters with someone who is a member of another political party.”
For me, this has definitely been true. Though I still think too much time online isn’t good (let’s have some common sense), social networking online has definitely helped me get in touch with people I never would have approached in my “skin” life.
So go ahead and start blogging. Or connect with me on Twitter, or Facebook. Apparently it won’t kill you and you won’t even end up weird. Well… unless you already are.

Because of blogging and social networking, I have been able to make a lot of friends online. I discuss with people whom I haven’t personally met before.
John Samuel´s last blog ..How to Spell Check the Subject of a Mail or Title of a Post?
I’m with you John. It’s opened my eyes to a world full of cool folks.
Yeah right. Tell that to my wife. She already thinks I am weird. She often comes up with comments like: “You;re not going to BLOG about that are you?”.
But I agree with you, blogging has a certain attraction to it. Once you get started, you cant stop.
Robert Bravery´s last blog ..There is no such thing as a quick fix.
Robert, hang in there. Eventually she’ll become numb to it and won’t pay attention at all. Or she may just start her own blog to make fun of you. There’s always hope. :)
